Attractions
Founded in the 6th century B.C.E. and known in Antiquity as Aulona, Vlorë was built in one of the most beautiful spots in southern Albania. Its shores present a unique mixture of rocky and sand beaches, and the gorgeous vistas of the Karaburun Peninsula and Sazan Islands stretch in front of the city.

- The natural terrace of Kuzum Baba, locat-ed on top of a hill that overlooks the city, was named after a Bektashi spiritual leader.
- A majestic slice of Albanian cultural herit-age, Zvernec Monastery from the 1300s, is lovely example of Byzantine architecture.
- South of Vlora begins the Ceraunian mountain range. You can venture off into Llogara’s wilderness, in a protected area where even European wildcats continue to thrive.
- Sazan Island, a former military installation made the news in 2015 when it was finally opened to the public after decades of secrecy.
